Perhaps the guy was asking for a sign of your willingness to abandon yourself emotionally to his telephone presence. Personally - I think that giving oneself to another can be intensely stimulating, particularly if one has a strong sense of self, and perhaps for men, the giving of oneself emotionally is more of a challenge than the physical gift of an orgasm, but perhaps the combination of the two would be an ideal (a union of the physical, emotional, and intellectual forces).
